MPA’s Summer 2015 Instructors

 Naomi Chung will teach 3 classes this summer: Drawing into Painting for 8-12 year olds (Saturdays 10am-12:30pm), Introduction to Drawing for 16 years-adults (Thursdays 7-9:30 pm), and Painting for 16 years-adults (Saturdays 1-4pm). Naomi teaches drawing and painting at Marymount University and Montgomery College. She began teaching at MPA last fall and already has many friends and fans here.  Sharon Fishel will teach both morning and afternoon sessions of MPA Summer Art Camp. She is our ArtReach Director and conducts workshops in schools and senior centers, and leads school tours in our galleries. Sharon completed an MFA degree from Queens College, CUNY and an MA from New York University. She was an adjunct professor at the Corcoran College of Art + Design for 11 years and at American University for 14 years. Prior to that, Sharon was Principal Instructor in the Education Department at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City for 5 years.

 

 Paul Glenshaw will teach the afternoon sessions of MPA Summer Art Camp on Mondays and Wednesdays Weeks 3 through 8. He earned his degree in painting at Washington University in St. Louis and is a studio arts instructor for the Smithsonian Associates, a STEAM educator, author, and filmmaker.  Barbara Januskiewicz will teach both morning and afternoon sessions of MPA Summer Art Camp Weeks 6 through 8. She will also teach Painting with Watercolor and Mixed Media for 16 years-adults on Mondays 7-10pm. Barbara came to MPA as an instructor from the Corcoran College of Art + Design. She has been an instructor in MPA’s Summer Art Camp, the Art League’s Summer Camp, and an art teacher in a number of elementary schools and preschools. She is an artist, filmmaker, and television producer. She has exhibited extensively throughout the Washington, DC area. See her work at www.barbaraj.info.

 

 Theresa Martin has many friends and fans here at MPA. This summer she will be teaching two classes: Drawing Fundamentals Tuesdays 4:30-6:30 pm and Mixed Media Masterpieces on Wednesdays 4:30-6:30 pm, both for 8-12 year olds.

 

 Tom Morris will teach Figure Drawing Wednesdays 7-10 pm. Tom was one of the original instructors placed to teach at MPA by the Corcoran College of Art + Design and he has been one of our most popular instructors. He is an adjunct professor at George Mason University. Tom completed his MFA at the University of Chicago and his work has been shown throughout the U.S. He has also exhibited through the Art in Embassies programs in Cuba, Costa Rica, and Tanzania.
