Our New Home in the Heart of McLean
Five years in the making, MPA is thrilled to open MPA Berlage Arts & Education Center. Our new 6,100-square-foot space joins our existing galleries at the McLean Community Center to establish our second location in the heart of downtown McLean. We invite you to visit, discover, and connect through art.
Becoming MPA Berlage
Founded in 1962, MPA has spent more than six decades bringing art and community together across a series of spaces — from our original Emerson Gallery on Emerson Avenue in Downtown McLean to the McLean Community Center. Until now, MPA has never had a permanent home entirely its own.
That changed in 2021, when plans began for a dedicated arts center in the heart of downtown McLean. What started as an ambitious vision quickly became one of the most transformative projects in MPA’s history.
Backed by the early leadership of our Tree of Life donors and partners including //3877 Architects and Trustar Bank, MPA acquired the Signet space in 2024 and broke ground the following year.
Our new home was made possible by the vision and generosity of our community of donors. Its name honors one. Bruce L. Berlage — longtime McLean community member, arts patron, and MPA Board member — made the landmark naming gift in 2024. Drawing on a lifetime of experience in property development and construction, Bruce remained an invaluable advisor to the project through the Center’s opening in 2026.
The MPA Berlage Arts & Education Center is the culmination of six decades bringing art, learning, and joy to our community. From our new home in the heart of McLean, we are proud to honour that tradition as we welcome what comes next.
