Viki Walchak is multimedia artist and potter who likes creating odd objects that usurp functionality and decorum in the service of a wild, free-ranging poetic aesthetic. Her ceramic wares tend to subvert practical utility in favor of a contemplative function. She earned a BFA with honors from the Corcoran School of Art, WDC and a MAT from Trinity University, WDC.
Her awards include a scholarship to study at the Lincoln Center Summer Institute for Educators for three summers, a project grant that funded weekend museum field trips for students and a short-term Fulbright to study in Japan. She is the Youth Programs Director for Del Ray Artisans, Alexandria and a member ceramicist at the Studios at Arlington Arts. She lives in Washington, DC.
