Nanette Catigbe is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist and a signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society (BWS), Virginia Watercolor Society (VWS), Philadelphia Watercolor Society (PWCS), and Maryland Pastel Society (MPS). She is also a member of the Pastel Society of America, Potomac Valley Watercolorists (PVW), and the Mid-Atlantic Pastel Society. Working in pastel, watercolor, oil, and mixed media, she is particularly drawn to human and pet portraiture, still life, landscapes, hand-painted clothing and bags, and artisan cakes.

Her work is inspired by the beauty of everyday life and reflects a deep appreciation for the distinctive colors and moods of each season. She draws from observation, memory, and personal experience, allowing each subject and medium to guide her creative process.

Her pastel paintings and watercolors have been featured in numerous juried exhibitions and publications, including Pastel Journal, Strokes of Genius: The Best of Drawing, and SPLASH 26 by Artists Magazine. Her work has received awards in regional and national exhibitions and continues to be exhibited throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond.

She also shares her knowledge as an instructor, combining a strong foundation in composition, value, color, light, and technique with an expressive and intuitive approach to painting. Through demonstrations and individualized guidance, she encourages students to observe closely, simplify what they see, make confident marks, and understand the reasoning behind their artistic choices.

She believes that art should be both challenging and joyful. In her classes, Nanette fosters a relaxed and supportive environment where students can experiment, take creative risks, and develop their own artistic voices. Her goal is to give students the tools and confidence to discover and express their unique perspectives.
