Rodin: Studio of a Genius – March 24th

colin • February 9, 2016

Join Jeffrey Allison, Paul Mellon Collection Educator and Manager, Statewide Programs and Exhibitions as he explores the life and work of Auguste Rodin, the greatest sculptor of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Rodin completely revitalized the very language of sculpture with his passion for the creative act. Allison will discuss Rodin’s techniques, materials, models, assistants, and the extraordinary working process behind some of the artist’s greatest works. Allison will also focus on the life and work of Rodin’s greatest love, Camille Claudel.

This lecture is offered in connection with the VMFA Major exhibition, Rodin, which runs through March 13, 2016.

Thursday, March 24, 7pm

This event is free and open to the public. RSVP here, on Facebook, or call 703.790.1953.
