From the Cellular to the Celestial presents a series of paintings depicting small impressionistic geometries—the cellular—and larger visions of the cosmos—the celestial. Georgia’s artistic explorations reflect her observations of our natural world, from the tiniest forms of life to the vast mysteries beyond.
Classically trained in art and design, Georgia Nassikas, in her encaustic paintings, explores forms and themes often at the intersection of abstraction and beauty. Following in the tradition of artists from ancient Greece, Georgia mixes wax from her beehives with earth-based pigments and damar crystals from fir trees on a heated palette. Using a blowtorch, she fuses, layers, scrapes and scores the wax medium on panel or paper, to create a stimulating interplay of texture, color, and composition.
