An Enduring Platform

for Contemporary Art

For more than six decades, McLean Project for the Arts’ exhibitions program has served as a vital cultural pillar for the region. Our sustained commitment to presenting contemporary art with serious curatorial attention is central to MPA’s mission and defines our distinctive approach to supporting artists, fostering dialogue, and building community through the arts.

Across two locations and six exhibition spaces, MPA presents work by emerging and established artists from the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond. Our diverse galleries accommodate a wide range of media and artistic practices, creating dynamic experiences for artists and visitors alike.

MPA’s exhibitions program features both solo and group exhibitions that engage with ideas, questions, and themes resonant with contemporary life. Through the thoughtful attention of our curators and jurors, each exhibition offers opportunities for close looking, reflection, and conversation — inviting audiences to encounter new perspectives and deepen their engagement with art being made in our time.

At MPA, contemporary art is both rigorous and approachable. We are committed to championing artists while creating welcoming spaces for audiences to experience work that inspires, informs, and challenges. Whether visiting for the first time or returning often, we invite you to discover something new with every exhibition.
