FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ROTARY CLUB OF McLEAN TO SPONSOR AND VOLUNTEER
AT 2008 MPAartfest CHILDREN’S ArtTent
Second Annual Art Festival to be Held Oct. 5 at McLean Central Park
McLean, Va. (07/08/2008)—
McLean, VA (August 7, 2008)—McLean Project for the Arts (MPA) announced
today that the Rotary Club of McLean will sponsor the Children’s ArtTent at the
second annual MPAartfest this fall, said event chair Bari Levingston.
The Children’s ArtTent will be one of the many highlights of MPAartfest, which
is set for Sunday, October 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at McLean Central Park
located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue in McLean, Va. Forty juried artists and
craftsmen from throughout the mid-Atlantic region and more than 3,500 people
are expected to participate in the free, rain-or-shine event.
The Children’s ArtTent, which also will be supported by the New Dominion
Women’s Club and Dr. Deirdre Maull, will foster an appreciation of art and
encourage creativity among youngsters. The tent will have stations where
children can make original creations such as clay sculptures and watercolor
paintings. New Dominion Women’s Club and McLean Rotary members will serve
as ArtTent volunteers. Last year more than 300 children visited the ArtTent.
“MPA is grateful for the Rotary Club of McLean sponsorship of this year’s
Children’s ArtTent,” said Levingston. “We appreciate the Rotary Club’s support of
MPAartfest and their commitment to expanding arts education in the community.
The Children’s ArtTent will be a phenomenal experience for art lovers of all
ages.”
Rotary President Lois Wilson said: “The Rotary Club of McLean is proud to
sponsor this year’s Children’s ArtTent and provide a creative environment for
local children and their parents that also will expand their minds to the world of
art. Our club consistently supports youth programming and we are excited about
participating in MPAartfest—one of the best community events in Northern
Virginia.”
MPAartfest also will feature artwork created by elementary school children from
McLean-area public and private schools in the Children's ArtWalk. Hundreds of
unique creations will line the walkway from Dolley Madison Library to McLean
Central Park creating a visually fitting entryway to the 2008 MPAartfest. McLean
Citizens Foundation (MCF) is sponsoring the Children’s ArtWalk.
MPAartfest is seeking sponsors for its second annual arts event. Levels of
support range from Corporate Chairman Circle ($10,000 and above) to Corporate
Patron ($600 to $1,199). New this year, for just $300 small businesses, groups,
families and individuals can sponsor one of the 40 juried artists’ tent galleries.
