MPAartfest CHILDREN’S ARTWALK RECEIVES
$5,000 SPONSORSHIP FROM McLEAN CITIZENS FOUNDATION

MPAartfest Set for October 5 in McLean Central Park

McLean, Va. (April 29, 2008)—McLean Project for the Arts (MPA) has received
$5,000 from the McLean Citizens Foundation (MCF) to support and sponsor the
Children’s ArtWalk at the 2008 MPAartfest this fall.

The Children’s ArtWalk will be one of the many highlights of the second annual
MPAartfest set for Sunday, October 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at McLean Central
Park. The park is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue in McLean, Va.

MPA expects more than 40 juried artists and fine craftsmen from throughout the
mid-Atlantic region to participate and attendance to be greater than the 3,500
Northern Virginia residents who attended last year.

The Children's ArtWalk will feature artwork created by elementary school children
from McLean-area public and private schools. Hundreds of unique creations will
line the walkway from Dolley Madison Library to McLean Central Park creating a
visually fitting entryway to the 2008 MPAartfest.

“McLean Citizens Foundation is a strong supporter of McLean schools and
parent-teacher associations, helping to fund projects that enhance the
environment for learning,” said Patricia Butler, MCF president. “Sponsoring the
MPAartfest Children’s ArtWalk this year will round out our history of support for
McLean students and give MCF a direct role in this great community-wide day of
expression and creativity.”

MPAartfest Chair Bari Levingston said: “McLean Project for the Arts is grateful to
the McLean Citizens Foundation for its support of the 2008 MPAartfest and
Children’s ArtWalk. We encourage other local companies and organizations to
follow McLean Citizens Foundation’s lead by participating in this community
event for art lovers of all ages.”

MPAartfest is seeking corporate sponsors for the 2008 event. Sponsorship
commitments range from $600 to more than $10,000. Each level provides
organizations unique promotional opportunities at this widely attended
community arts festival. For more information about MPAartfest sponsorships,
contact Sheri McGrath, MPA’s director of development, at (703) 791-1953 or at
smcgrath@mpaart.org.

MPAartfest will transform McLean Central Park into a lively landscape of mini art
galleries showcasing and offering for sale the work of a diverse group of local
and regional juried artists and craftsmen. The Children’s ArtWalk, a Children’s
ArtTent and live entertainment throughout the day will make this a must-attend
event for art lovers of all ages. ABC 7 and NewsChannel 8 weekend anchor
Leslie Cook will serve as master of ceremonies.

MPAartfest is free to the public. Ample free parking will be provided and local restaurants and
community groups will offer refreshments for sale. A rain-or-shine event, MPAartfest will move
inside the McLean Community Center, adjacent to the park, in case of inclement weather.

McLean Citizens Foundation is McLean's community foundation, making grants to worthy
projects that have a lasting benefit to the residents and surroundings of the McLean Planning
District. Recent grant recipients include McLean Volunteer Fire Department, Fairfax Trails and
Streams as well as SHARE, Inc. Its Board of Trustees is comprised of Butler, William DuBose,
Pamela Danner, Richard (Rip) Sullivan, Adrienne Whyte, Beth Chung, Marianne Prendergast,

Additionally, MPAartfest is grateful for the support of Fairfax County Supervisor John Foust, the
Fairfax County Park Authority, the Friends of McLean Central Park, the McLean Community
Center, the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce and the many corporate and individual
sponsors who make the event possible, Levingston said.

ABC 7 and NewsChannel 8 are this year’s MPAartfest broadcast media sponsors.
